Furniture Sector Urged to Align Growth with Green Manufacturing

FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) has invited budget proposals for fiscal year 2026–27, with industry leaders emphasizing the integration of sustainability into future growth strategies.
PFC CEO Mian Kashif Ashfaq called for technological upgradation, skill development in eco-friendly production, and the establishment of dedicated furniture parks designed with environmental compliance standards.
Environmental experts argue that the furniture sector must address deforestation pressures by promoting certified wood, recycled materials, and energy-efficient manufacturing processes. They stress that without green reforms, export expansion could come at the cost of ecological damage.
Stakeholders were urged to propose incentives for clean energy adoption, reduced production emissions, and sustainable sourcing practices to ensure the sector contributes to both economic and climate goals.
