UAF, FWMC Partner to Launch “Waste to Value” Initiative

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) have agreed to collaborate on a “Waste-to-Value” initiative aimed at converting municipal solid waste into clean energy, organic fertilizer, and other value-added products.
The collaboration was discussed during a meeting between UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and FWMC Chief Executive Officer Abid Hussain Bhatti. Both sides explored the development of a practical and sustainable system to transform municipal waste from an environmental burden into an economic and agricultural resource.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali said that converting waste into clean energy and organic compost would help reduce environmental pollution, improve soil fertility, and promote sustainable agriculture. He stressed the need to develop cost-effective, efficient, and scalable technologies that could later be replicated in other cities. He added that the partnership would also provide researchers with opportunities to conduct studies on real municipal waste and test innovative waste management technologies.
FWMC CEO Abid Hussain Bhatti said the company intended to benefit from the university’s scientific and technical expertise to develop sustainable solutions for modern waste management.
