Transparency International Pakistan and UET Lahore Launch Youth Climate Fellowship Program 2025

LAHORE: In a landmark step towards promoting youth engagement in climate governance and sustainable development, Transparency International Pakistan (TI-P) in collaboration with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore has officially launched the Youth Climate Education and Fellowship Program 2025.
The initiative was formally inaugurated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant partnership aimed at equipping university students with vital knowledge and leadership skills to address environmental challenges and advocate for transparent, sustainable climate policies.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by distinguished academic and institutional representatives, including Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, Mr. Kashif Ali, Executive Director of Transparency International Pakistan, Dr. Izzat Iqbal Cheema, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical, Polymer and Composite Materials Engineering, UET Lahore, and Ms. Fariha Fatima, Programme and Procurement Associate, TI Pakistan. Other notable attendees included Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan, Dean Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgical & Polymer Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sayyed Mohsin Ali Kazmi, Chairman of the Department of Chemical, Polymer and Composite Materials Engineering (New Campus), and Prof. Dr. Hafiz Zaheer Aslam, Chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering.
The Youth Climate Fellowship Program aims to select 40 students from multiple departments across UET to participate in an intensive eight-month program. The fellowship will provide in-depth education in key areas such as climate change, policy development, sustainable practices, carbon markets, disaster risk management, and the socio-economic impacts of environmental issues.
The program is designed to empower young leaders, enabling them to actively participate in climate policy advocacy, social accountability, and transparent climate action. It will culminate in an Innovation Challenge, where fellows will present practical and innovative solutions to real-world climate issues, contributing towards Pakistan’s growing efforts in climate resilience and governance.
This timely initiative not only highlights the importance of youth leadership in addressing the climate crisis but also reinforces the role of academic-industry collaborations in fostering impactful, sustainable solutions for the future.
