Planting Trees: A Natural Shield Against Floods and Climate Change

Pakistan is facing what is being described as the worst flood in its history, submerging hundreds of villages, thousands of acres of farmland, and causing widespread loss of livestock and homes. In these circumstances, the importance of tree plantation has become even more evident—not only for reducing the intensity of floods, but also for preventing soil erosion, combating air pollution, and mitigating the broader impacts of climate change. Recognizing this urgent need, Climate Call interviewed Dr. Fahad Rasheed, Associate Professor at the Department of Forestry and Range Management, University of Agriculture Faisalabad.
