Pakistan’s First-Ever Carbon Reporting Platform Launched to Help Industries and Public Sector Earn Carbon Credits

FAISALABAD: In a ground breaking step toward climate compliance and sustainable industrial growth, a new joint venture between Refurb N Up and Technology & Management Integratix (TMI) is set to launch Pakistan’s first dedicated platform for carbon emission calculation, record-keeping, and reporting.
Refurb N Up, a startup incubated at the National Incubation Center Faisalabad (NICF), is a climate-conscious tech initiative transforming e-waste into opportunity by refurbishing digital devices, reducing carbon emissions, and making technology more accessible and sustainable. TMI is a purpose-driven organization focused on empowering people, innovating processes, and developing sustainable solutions to build resilient systems for a smarter future.
This collaborative initiative aims to empower local industries and public sector organizations by enabling them to accurately measure their carbon footprints and gain access to the global carbon credit market. The platform fills a critical gap in Pakistan’s environmental infrastructure by providing technical tools and expertise that have long been lacking.
The joint venture agreement was signed at the National Incubation Center Faisalabad. The signing ceremony featured Hamid Ali, Founder of Refurb N Up, and Amjad Mehmood, Director Operations of TMI.

Speaking at the event, Hamid Ali shared that the platform will help combat climate change by enabling public sector organizations and industries to calculate, record, and report their carbon emissions—ultimately facilitating access to carbon credits. He noted that one of the major challenges faced by these entities is the lack of tools and technical expertise for emission tracking and reporting—an issue this platform is designed to directly address.
Amjad Mehmood highlighted that 60% of Pakistan’s exports are shipped to countries with strict environmental compliance regulations. He cautioned that failure to meet these standards could lead to punitive tariffs, hurting both the reputation and profitability of Pakistani exporters. He emphasized that TMI, in collaboration with Refurb N Up, will offer technical support to industries to improve compliance, enhance exports, and foster technological growth.
The event was graced by faculty members from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, the National Textile University Faisalabad, the Government College University Faisalabad as well as industry experts, technology professionals, and startups founders.

Professor Dr. Amjad Hussain, Director Studies of UET Lahore, remarked that Pakistan currently lacks a sustainability framework and robust reporting mechanisms to stay competitive in the global market—especially in the context of climate change and greenhouse gas reduction targets. He expressed optimism that this joint venture would play a vital role in bridging that gap.
Professor Dr. Shahid Imran from UET Lahore praised the initiative, calling it a pivotal development to help Pakistan’s export industries comply with international environmental regulations—a crucial step for sustainable economic progress.
Umar Saeed Qadri, Registrar of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, emphasized the agricultural sector’s role in greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, stating that the platform would also help tackle sector-specific environmental challenges.
Aiman Shahid, Program Manager at NICF, expressed pride that one of their incubated startups is stepping up to address such a critical national issue, reinforcing the value of fostering innovative, impact-driven entrepreneurship.
