FAISALABAD: Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) celebrated International Climate Action Day through a three-day Sustainability Week exhibition. Organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and the GYM Club, the event, which ran from October 29 to October 31, aimed to raise awareness on environmental conservation.
The exhibition showcased themed stalls and activities highlighting climate and sustainability issues, such as “Save Energy, Spark Change,” “Be Water Smart,” “Biodiversity and Nature,” and “Waste Reduction and Sustainable Living,” aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.

In addition to the exhibits, the Department of Botany conducted a “Microfarming: Kitchen Gardening Training” session in partnership with Green Circle Pakistan. Trainers Prof. Dr. Shahzad Basra and Mr. Sajid Iqbal Sandhu provided hands-on guidance in micro-farming techniques, encouraging participants to integrate sustainable gardening into daily life.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen inaugurated the event, commending students for their environmental commitment. “I am delighted to see our students focusing on environmental issues. We must care for our environment and protect our resources, not just for ourselves but for future generations,” Dr. Ameen stated. She encouraged students to further advance their sustainability initiatives. The exhibition drew several notable attendees, including Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli and Director QEC Dr. Asma Khalid, who praised the students’ innovative ideas for fostering a greener, cleaner future.
