FAISALABAD: Romina Khurshid Alam, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change, urged the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to play a key role in forming actionable strategies to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change and maximize the benefits of the carbon credit fund. During a meeting with FCCI President Rehan Naseem Bharara and Senior Vice President Qaiser Shams Gucha, she emphasized the need for a unified strategy to combat climate change, ensuring that exports are not adversely affected in the coming years. She assured the FCCI of her continued support and announced plans for a visit to further strengthen collaboration. FCCI President Bharara thanked Romina for effectively raising Pakistan’s concerns at COP 29 and highlighted that although Pakistan contributes less than 1% to global pollution, it has suffered economic losses exceeding $32 billion due to climate change. He urged the government to secure Pakistan’s share in the global carbon credit fund and include the FCCI in policy formulation.
